As always: in order to understand what you believe you must understand the opposite. Two be able to argue both sides.
I am reading president George W. Bush's memoir at the moment. It is clearly written with a political perspective, this is not an autobiography, this is what he perceived to have happened. He is legacy shopping. Pushing the blame on other people and making other people out to be the bad guy. He does admit to be wrong and making mistakes but always after showing that they were complex mistakes that were not entirely his fault. I like presidential memoirs because they tell you what nothing else can, what actually goes on in the mind of the President of The United States of America.
I know that some of you will counter that he did not write the book, he had ghost writers. I ask you then to read the book, this is not eloquent poetics. A rich little kid from Texas wrote this book. Even if he had ghost writers, this is his story and his side of what when on. Thats what I want to know.
